Job Description

You're a Tradie. Or a multitalented Handyperson. Whatever your title, you're handy with a power tool and can fix things. You've got a practical approach to solving property maintenance problems.


We are Kingsgate Hotel and Resort, Bay of Islands . Together with Millennium and Copthorne Hotels, we are one of New Zealand's largest hotel operators and part of an expanding international network of hotels. We are known for creating memorable guest experiences that start from the moment our guests walk through the door.


That's where you come in as our Maintenance Handyperson.


In this part-time role, including weekends, you will be someone who is self-motivated, hands-on and multi-skilled.


Your duties will include but not be limited to:


  • Executing proactive maintenance measures to ensure uninterrupted hotel services and comfort for guests.
  • Showcasing your skills in painting, plastering, gibb stopping, joinery, and other general maintenance tasks.
  • Swiftly addressing maintenance concerns raised by guests, enhancing their satisfaction with timely resolutions.
  • Excelling in the completion of work orders promptly and efficiently.
  • Conducting daily rounds to spot and report issues, contributing to the continuous upkeep of the property.


It goes without saying that you have a good knowledge of tools and techniques, and you may have worked in a role where you've been responsible for overseeing property grounds and performing preventative maintenance in the past.
