Mō te tūranga - About the role:


  • We are looking for a self-motivated Mission Coordinator to enact innovative and creative solutions, that respond to immediate community needs within our Community Ministries programme of The Salvation Army. You will need a kete of diverse approaches to facilitate local social justice and outreach initiatives. Gifted with servant leadership skills.


Key tasks include:


  • Providing initial care and advocacy response to those in need
  • Building community engagement with other local ministries and organisations.
  • Coordinating and motivating helpers
  • Opportunities for pastoral care and spiritual support

Our ideal person will have:


  • A heart for social justice issues
  • A cooperative and communicative attitude, easily relating to people from diverse and vibrant communities
  • A self-starter with ability to clearly communicate, engage and network with a wide range of people
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills essential
  • Ability to oversee multiple tasks at once, adhering to budgets and timeframes.
  • Inspire and motivate volunteers to help
  • Understanding of, respect for, and ability to work with The Salvation Army's mission, principles, and Christian ethos

Hours of work: This will be a Permanent Part time role working 20 hrs per week.


The starting hourly rate for this role will be $29.90 per hour.
