About the Role

The Hutt City Corps believes that tamariki and rangatahi are Tino Taonga (precious treasures) and were created by God to be seen, heard, and included. We are committed to creating an environment where tamariki and rangatahi experience a sense of belonging and are supported to grow—both personally and in their relationship with Jesus.

  • Work with others to develop a long-term plan for next gen ministry.
  • Developing intentional, supportive relationships with tamariki and rangatahi that foster belonging and encourage growth and development.
  • Working to see tamariki and rangatahi make decisions to follow Jesus and growing in their discipleship journey.
  • Leading programmes for tamariki and rangatahi that outwork the Salvation Army community's mission and Next Gen strategy
  • Establish and foster appropriate internal and external relationships to enable connection and collaboration.
  • Attend and journey with tamariki and rangatahi at camps and events, being fully present and engaged in their experience.

You will have:

  • A NZQA Level 5 qualification in a relevant field OR two years employed ministry experience.
  • Legal entitlement to work in Aotearoa New Zealand
  • A strong personal relationship with Jesus Christ
  • Connection to The Salvation Army
  • A passion for working with young people
  • Support for the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
  • A commitment to continued development and learning in next gen ministry

Ideally, you will also have, or be working towards, the following competencies and attributes:

  • An ability to learn and take instruction
  • Good time management skills
  • A clean full driving licence
  • Good cross-cultural understanding
  • Written and oral communication skills

What we offer:

  • A week of additional TSA leave awarded annually on 1 July
  • Free confidential counselling services to support your wellbeing
  • Subsidised flu vaccinations
  • Professional Development opportunities that align with your role
  • Discounted Medical Insurance with Southern Cross
  • TSA discount card for discount with various retailors.
  • Free carparking

This role is full time and hours worked will be 37.5 per week.

The starting salary for this role will fall between $64,000 and $67,000 per annum
