Job Description

A crown-owned entity is seeking an experienced Senior Systems Accountant to take ownership of the FMIS (TechnologyOne) and help shape the future of their financial systems and processes.

Reporting to the Corporate Accounting Manager, this role combines financial expertise, systems knowledge, and business partnering to ensure our financial systems remain reliable, fit for purpose, and aligned with organisational needs. As Finance’s TechnologyOne subject matter expert, you will work across the organisation to resolve complex issues, drive continuous improvement, and translate business requirements into practical solutions.


Key responsibilities


Financial Systems Leadership


  • Act as Finance’s TechnologyOne and financial systems subject matter expert.
  • Maintain and optimise system configuration, workflows, master data, reporting structures, and controls.
  • Monitor system performance and manage issues through to resolution.
  • Assess new functionality, upgrades, and enhancements, recommending opportunities to improve business outcomes.
  • Provide trusted advice on system priorities, risks, and improvement opportunities.


Continuous Improvement


  • Develop and deliver a pipeline of financial systems and process improvements.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify, standardise, automate, and enhance financial processes.
  • Lead initiatives from requirements gathering and solution design through to testing, implementation, and post-implementation review.
  • Work closely with TechnologyOne consultants and internal stakeholders to maximise system capability and value.


Business Partnering & Problem Solving


  • Build strong relationships across Finance, IS, and business teams.
  • Translate business needs into effective system, process, reporting, and data solutions.
  • Investigate and resolve complex issues, identifying whether the root cause lies in systems, processes, data, or user capability.
  • Provide training, support, and knowledge sharing to strengthen organisational capability and user confidence.


About you


To succeed in this role, you will bring:

  • A tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, Commerce, or a related discipline.
  • CA, CPA, or equivalent professional qualification (desirable).
  • Significant experience with enterprise financial management systems.
  • Strong expertise in system configuration, reporting, workflows, controls, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.
  • TechnologyOne Finance experience (highly desirable).
  • A sound understanding of financial processes, reporting, data integrity, and internal controls.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify root causes and develop practical solutions.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts in plain language.
