Hei Oranga Iwi | The opportunity

At EY, we are committed to building a better working world. We help our clients navigate complex transformation by bringing together strategy, technology and delivery to turn ambition into sustainable outcomes.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Technology Transformation Delivery leader to join our Technology Strategy & Transformation team in Wellington.

This is a senior transformation leadership role spanning the full lifecycle of technology-enabled change, from strategy and architecture through delivery, implementation and transition into operations.

You will connect business leaders, technology teams, vendors and delivery partners, maintaining alignment across decisions, dependencies, risks and outcomes.

The role brings together three complementary disciplines:

  • Strategy, Architecture & Transformation: Connect business and technology strategy, target operating models and architecture to executable transformation roadmaps and delivery priorities.
  • Programme & Project Delivery: Provide end-to-end leadership across projects, workstreams, technology teams, vendors and stakeholders, maintaining an integrated view of dependencies, risks, decisions, delivery readiness and outcomes.
  • Service Transition & Operating Model: Ensure solutions are designed and delivered with the operational environment in mind, including service management, vendor integration, operational readiness, release and transition into business-as-usual.

This position is based in our Te Whanganui-a-Tara (Wellington) office.

Ko Tō Rourou | Your key responsibilities

  • Lead complex technology-enabled transformations from strategy and architecture through delivery, implementation and transition into operations.
  • Translate strategic objectives, target-state architecture and transformation roadmaps into executable delivery plans and priorities.
  • Maintain an integrated view of programme progress, dependencies, risks, decisions, delivery readiness and business outcomes.
  • Orchestrate multidisciplinary teams across business, architecture, engineering, operations, vendors and delivery partners.
  • Advise senior stakeholders, resolve cross-functional delivery issues and support timely, outcome-focused decisions.
  • Shape effective technology operating models, governance, sourcing arrangements, service management and operational transition.

Ngā Pūkenga | Skills and attributes for success

  • Significant experience leading complex technology transformations, ideally within government or other large enterprise environments.
  • Proven ability to connect strategy and architecture with programme delivery, implementation and operational transition.
  • Strong programme leadership capability, including governance, planning, dependency and risk management, and delivery assurance.
  • Experience leading Agile and hybrid delivery environments, with practical familiarity with delivery tools such as Jira or Azure DevOps.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and vendors across complex organisational boundaries.
  • Strong understanding of technology operating models, service management, commercial delivery and transition into business-as-usual.
  • Ability to advise senior stakeholders, translate technical issues into business implications and create clarity in ambiguous environments.

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Experience working in consulting, large-scale transformation or complex enterprise environments.
  • Experience supporting technology strategy, enterprise architecture, operating model or transformation roadmap engagements.
  • Experience delivering transformation within New Zealand government or other large, complex organisations.
  • Relevant programme, project, Agile, architecture or service-management certifications would be beneficial.
