A Finance Business Partner role for a very down to earth accountant, who enjoys operational reporting and partnering + Fantastic team + FMCG


  • Newmarket based + fantastic team + full time permanent role
  • Suit Operational BP exper + must be down to earth, enjoy a bit of banter
  • FMCG + a good start in FBP / management accounting essential


Our client is one of New Zealand’s largest wine companies, with big ambitions on the world stage. This is a fantastic new role for a Finance Business Partner to work alongside their Wineries and Vineyards teams to create fluid quality reporting and partnering, and a genuine story in the numbers.


The role


This is a hands-on business partnering role where your analysis is vital to refining and influencing business decisions. You’ll work closely with operational leaders and the Finance Manager Operations, giving them the insight they need to run tighter, smarter and more profitable operations. Day to day, you will:


  • Partner with the Wineries and Vineyards leadership teams, providing commercial analysis that shapes operational decisions
  • Own monthly reporting and KPI dashboards, with commentary that explains what’s driving performance and what needs to happen next
  • Deliver variance analysis against budget, forecast and prior years
  • Support month-end, including accrual reviews, journals and cost allocations
  • Lead the Wineries and Vineyards input into budgets, forecasts and the Integrated Business Planning cycle, and challenge the assumptions behind them
  • Build financial models and scenario analysis to support resource allocation and product profitability
  • Find ways to improve cost efficiency, reporting and processes, including through automation and better tools


About you


This role is best suited to someone who is perhaps at the earlier stages of their career development - you’ll still bring with you key requirements of operational business partnering, and have a good base of experience to develop from.  It is best suited to someone who is very grounded and down to earth, enjoys some banter and has a relatable personality.  You’ll have a genuine desire to connect with, and work with the vineyard stakeholders and their journey from planting to dispatch.

You’ll explain numbers in a way operational people actually understand, you’ll ask good questions, and you enjoy improving how things get done.
