The role


My client is looking for a Sales Manager to lead its sales reps.  This role is best suited to someone who has excellent customer relations, a calm and level headed approach to the team and the dynamics, and someone who offers sound positive support to your team of reps.  Reporting to the General Manager, you’ll set the standard for how the team looks after its customers, coach your people to hit their numbers, and keep sales running smoothly across the business.

This is a hands-on leadership role. You’ll be out with customers and suppliers, working closely with the operations, commercial and H&S teams, and backing your team when they need it.


What you’ll be doing

  • Leading and managing the sales rep team to deliver great service and hit sales targets
  • Coaching and developing your direct reports
  • Building strong relationships with builders, trade customers and suppliers
  • Working with other departments to keep sales activity effective and on track
  • Solving problems quickly and bringing new ideas to the General Manager
  • Making sure the team works safely and in line with company policies

What you’ll bring

  • Sales experience in timber, building products or trade merchandise (or something similar)
  • Proven people leadership, with a genuine interest in coaching and developing others
  • A customer-first attitude and great communication skills
  • The ability to work on your own initiative and own your results
  • Integrity and a calm, steady approach that earns trust

A business qualification and risk management experience would be a bonus, but strong trade sales leadership matters more.
