Our client is a large and well-established New Zealand organisation with a complex group structure and a broad range of business operations.

With a strong focus on financial governance, continuous improvement and delivering reliable information to support the wider business, the organisation offers the opportunity to work within a sophisticated finance environment alongside experienced accounting professionals.

This is a great opportunity for a technically strong contract accountant looking to join a collaborative team where you'll have genuine ownership across financial accounting, reporting and compliance.

The Role

You'll be responsible for ensuring the month-end processes are completed accurately and on time, while providing technical accounting support and helping drive improvements across finance.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading month-end processes and preparing monthly reports
  • Preparing and reviewing monthly balance sheet reconciliations and resolving discrepancies
  • Preparing annual financial statements and supporting disclosures
  • Preparing and reviewing GST, FBT, RWT and income tax calculations and returns
  • Managing and reporting on a substantial fixed asset portfolio, ensuring accurate accounting and reconciliations

Your Profile

You'll be a technically strong and commercially minded accountant who is comfortable working in a complex environment and taking ownership of your work.

What we are looking for:

  • CA qualified or equivalent
  • 4+ years' financial accounting experience, ideally within a complex organisation
  • Strong Excel skills and strong analytical ability and business acumen
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • High attention to detail and a strong sense of integrity
  • A proactive, self-motivated approach with the resilience to manage competing priorities
