About the Role

Unite Recruit is seeking qualified and reliable Site Traffic Management Supervisors (STMS) – Category A, B or C for civil construction, roading and infrastructure projects across the Wellington region.


We’re looking for safety-focused traffic management professionals who can supervise crews, coordinate temporary traffic management operations and help maintain safe worksites.


Whether you hold STMS Category A, B or C, we want to hear from you. Opportunities and responsibilities will depend on your current qualification, practising status and the requirements of each project.


  • What You’ll Be Doing Supervising and coordinating traffic management crews on civil construction and roading sites.
  • Setting up, monitoring and removing temporary traffic management equipment.
  • Implementing approved Traffic Management Plans (TMPs) within your authorised scope.
  • Completing site checks, identifying hazards and ensuring appropriate safety controls are maintained.
  • Communicating with site supervisors, project teams, crew members and the public.
  • Completing relevant documentation and reporting safety concerns or incidents.
  • Ensuring traffic management activities follow applicable requirements and site procedures.
  • What We’re Looking For Current STMS Category A, B or C qualification – essential.
  • Relevant practising status for the duties and projects undertaken.
  • Previous traffic management experience, preferably in civil construction or roading.
  • A strong understanding of worksite health and safety.
  • Confidence communicating with crews and coordinating site activities.
  • A reliable, professional and safety-focused attitude.
  • A full Class 1 driver licence and reliable transport.
  • Flexibility to work day or night shifts, depending on project requirements.
