We’re looking for an experienced Night Cook to join our team at MB Century in Taupō. In this role, you’ll prepare, cook, and serve high‑quality meals to support our remote-site operations, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient food service throughout the night. You’ll play a crucial part in creating a positive experience for our on-site teams.  You’ll work a 7 days on / 7 days off roster, averaging 80.5 hours per working week . The site operates 24/7; you will work Night shifts only. Accommodation, parking, gym access, and all meals are provided at no extra cost.


🍳 Ko ō kawenga | Your Responsibilities


In this role, you will:


  • Prepare, cook, and present meals—including hot dishes, meats, baked goods, vegetables, desserts, and snacks—while maintaining high quality and consistency.
  • Receive, store, rotate, and manage kitchen supplies to ensure efficient and safe food production.
  • Maintain cleanliness across all kitchen areas, including equipment sanitisation, waste handling, restocking, and end‑of‑service cleanup.
  • Apply basic communication skills to relay information, follow instructions, and coordinate effectively with the wider team.
  • Use catering control principles such as portion control, stock handling, and minimising waste while supporting and supervising cleaning staff during night service.

You’ll be a great fit if you bring:


  • Proven experience as a Cook, ideally in a similar remote, industrial, or high-volume environment.
  • The ability to work under pressure while maintaining a positive, professional attitude.
  • Strong teamwork skills with the confidence to work independently during night shifts.
  • Flexibility, reliability, and a commitment to high standards of hygiene and safety.
  • Physical fitness and the ability to meet the demands of a busy commercial kitchen. A police clearance is required.
  • A Full NZ Drivers Licence is a must for this role.
