Fencing Installer


Know your way around a fence line, concrete, timber and steel?

Tradestaff Waikato is looking for experienced Fencing Installers to work across a range of residential and commercial projects throughout the Waikato.


We’re looking for practical, hands-on people who can do more than just put up a basic timber fence. You’ll need a broad range of skills and be comfortable working with timber, steel and concrete, preparing sites, setting posts and installing different fencing systems.

One week you could be building a residential boundary fence, the next installing heavy-duty security fencing around a commercial or industrial site.


If you’ve got solid fencing experience, good construction skills and know how to get a job done properly from the ground up, we want to hear from you.


What you could be doingEvery project will be different, but your work could include:


  • Installing residential timber and panel fencing
  • Installing commercial and security fencing
  • Installing steel, aluminium and other prefabricated fencing systems
  • Installing gates, posts and associated fencing components
  • Setting out fence lines and accurately measuring sites
  • Digging and preparing post holes and foundations
  • Boxing and basic formwork
  • Mixing, placing and finishing concrete
  • Cutting, drilling and working with timber and steel
  • Basic landscaping and ground preparation
  • Working around slopes, existing structures and different ground conditions
  • Using hand and power tools safely and confidently
  • Completing repairs, alterations and replacement fencing


We’re looking for people who


  • Have previous fencing installation experience
  • Have good practical construction skills
  • Are confident working with timber, steel and concrete
  • Have experience with boxing, formwork or concrete work
  • Have some landscaping or ground preparation experience
  • Can accurately measure, set out and work to levels
  • Are confident using common hand and power tools
  • Can work independently and solve practical problems on site
  • Are physically fit and comfortable working outdoors
  • Have reliable transport
  • Ideally hold a Full NZ Driver Licence
  • Understand the importance of Health and Safety
  • Are reliable, hardworking and take pride in the finished product
  • Are available for full-time hours and early starts when required


You don’t necessarily need to be an expert in every type of fencing. If you have strong fencing or construction experience, good practical skills and the ability to pick up new systems, we’d still like to hear from you.

  • Pay rates of $25 to $35 per hour, depending on experience and skill level
