Class 2 Driver / Tractor Boom Operator (WTR)

We're on the hunt for an experienced Class 2 Driver with WTR endorsements to join a busy sealing crew for the upcoming season. This isn't your average driving role. You'll be part of a team delivering essential roading projects across the South Island while enjoying consistent work, away allowances, and the opportunity to travel throughout some of New Zealand's most scenic regions.


If you're someone who enjoys variety, takes pride in a hard day's work, and doesn't mind getting your hands dirty, this could be the perfect opportunity.


What You'll Be Doing


As a key member of the sealing crew, your primary role will be operating a tractor fitted with a hydraulic boom-mounted broom to prepare road surfaces ahead of sealing operations.


You'll also be involved in:


  • Driving Class 1 and Class 2 vehicles
  • Operating an industrial tractor and other roading plant as required
  • Sweeping roads and preparing surfaces for sealing
  • Assisting with pre-seal repairs and road preparation
  • Hand brooming, shovelling, raking, and general labouring duties
  • Acting as a spotter for trucks and heavy machinery
  • Operating rollers, water carts, and other equipment where required
  • Conducting daily vehicle and equipment checks
  • Maintaining a safe and productive worksite
  • Working alongside a skilled and supportive roading crew

We're Looking for Someone Who Has:


  • Class 2 Licence (essential)
  • Current WTR endorsements (essential)
  • Previous civil roading, maintenance, or sealing experience
  • Experience operating tractors, rollers, water carts, or similar machinery
  • A strong commitment to health and safety
  • The ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • A positive attitude and strong work ethic
  • The flexibility to travel and work away from home for extended periods
  • Full New Zealand working rights


Important Information


The successful applicant will attend the season induction before joining the crew as they travel throughout the South Island.


This role involves working away from Dunedin for much of the sealing season, making it ideal for someone who enjoys travel, variety, and being part of a close-knit team delivering essential infrastructure projects.
