Mō te tūranga | About the role


This is more than an information management role—it's an opportunity to lead a capable team, foster a culture of continuous improvement, and help shape how Council manages one of its most valuable assets: information.


You'll lead by example, empower your team to succeed, and work collaboratively across Council to ensure our information is managed safely, accurately, and in line with legislative requirements.


What you'll do:

  • Lead, coach and develope a high-performing Information Team.
  • Create a positive, collaborative team culture.
  • Support continuous improvement and embrace opportunities for innovation.
  • Oversee information governance, records management and compliance.
  • Build strong relationships across Council to deliver excellent internal service.

You're an approachable and engaging leader who enjoys bringing people together and helping others succeed. You communicate openly, build trust quickly, and lead with authenticity, positivity and accountability.


You'll bring:

  • Proven experience successfully leading, motivating and developing teams.
  • A collaborative leadership style and the ability to build strong working relationships.
  • Energy, initiative and a genuine passion for continuous improvement.
  • The confidence to lead change and identify opportunities to improve systems and processes.
  • Sound knowledge of information or records management, or the ability to quickly develop expertise in this area.
  • A commitment to excellent customer service and delivering positive outcomes.
  • A Full New Zealand Driver Licence.
  • Relevant qualifications in Information Management, Records Management, Business, or a related discipline are desirable. However, we're equally interested in hearing from experienced leaders who have demonstrated success leading teams, building capability and delivering results.
