Are you the kind of person who’s always ready with a smile, a helping hand, and a soft spot for little giggles and big imaginations? BestStart is looking for unqualified Reliever Caregivers – the unsung heroes who step in, support our kaiako, and bring joy to our tamariki when it’s needed most. You won’t just be picking up shifts, you’ll be helping create a home away from home for our tamariki and building strong relationships with staff, whānau, and the wider community..


What does the role look like? As a Reliever Caregiver you will:


  • Support our permanent teachers with daily routines
  • Care for and guide our tamariki through their learning and play
  • Jump in with energy, ideas, and aroha to keep the day running smoothly
  • Enjoy the variety—every day brings something new, and no two are ever the same


Who we’re looking for:

  • Someone with a passion for working with children and supporting whānau
  • Reliable, flexible, and full of initiative
  • Caring, fun-loving, and ready to get stuck in
  • No formal ECE qualifications needed – just your enthusiasm and heart
  • Has clean police vetting and 2x workplace references
