About the role


We are seeking ECE casual relievers to join New Shoots Children's Centres in the Bay of Plenty This is a casual position offering flexibility to work on an as-needed basis, providing cover during staff absences and peak periods. As an ECE Casual Reliever, you will play a vital role in maintaining the quality and continuity of our early childhood programmes, ensuring that our children continue to receive excellent care and education regardless of staffing circumstances.


Key responsibilities


  • Providing high-quality supervision and care for children within the early childhood education environment
  • Supporting and implementing the centre's curriculum and educational programmes in line with Te Whāriki (New Zealand's early childhood curriculum)
  • Creating and maintaining a safe, clean and stimulating learning environment for all children in your care
  • Building positive relationships with children, families and staff members
  • Observing and responding to children's developmental needs, interests and wellbeing
  • Assisting with daily routines including meal times, transitions and rest periods
  • Communicating with parents and guardians regarding their child's day and any relevant concerns
  • Supporting the permanent teaching staff in implementing centre policies and procedures
  • Contributing to a collaborative team environment and maintaining professional standards


What we're looking for


  • Current First Aid certification (paediatric preferred)
  • A current police vetting clearance will need to be obtained
  • A genuine passion for supporting children's learning and development
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to be flexible and responsive to changing priorities in a casual role
  • A commitment to maintaining professional standards and confidentiality
