Job Description

  • The Company My client is a large privately-owned NZ Manufacturing business, based South Auckland with multiple locations. The business dominates the market in their sector and continues to grow with demand. This role will split their time between Pokeno and East Tamaki sites. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a commercially focused Cost Accountant to join a manufacturing-focused business. This is a hands-on role where you will work closely with operations to drive performance, improve costing accuracy, and support decision-making across manufacturing sites. You will partner with both finance and operational teams, playing a key role in delivering meaningful insights and driving continuous improvement initiatives. The Role Maintaining and improving product costing, including Bills of Materials (BOMs) and inventory accuracy
  • Supporting the month-end process, including data integrity and variance analysis
  • Delivering insightful analysis on manufacturing performance to support operational decision making
  • Partnering with operational teams to identify and implement improvements in manufacturing efficiency
  • Assisting with stocktakes and ensuring accuracy of raw materials and finished goods
  • Supporting CAPEX analysis and project costing initiatives
  • Contributing to continuous improvement across ERP, costing, and manufacturing processes
  • Your Profile To be successful in this role, you will bring: Proven experience in a manufacturing or cost accounting environment
  • Strong understanding of key cost drivers and performance levers within manufacturing
  • Experience working with ERP systems and strong Excel capability
  • High attention to detail and a proactive, results-oriented mindset
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to partner across finance and operations
  • Preferred but not essential: Tertiary qualification in Accounting
  • Working towards or holding a professional accounting qualification
  • Exposure to process improvement methodologies such as Lean or Six Sigma
