We are looking for a reliable and passionate Casual Cook to join our team at Wairarapa Hospital .


This is the perfect opportunity for someone looking to supplement their income, enjoy flexible work that fits around their lifestyle, or return to the workforce while doing something meaningful. You will play an important role in preparing nutritious meals that support patient wellbeing while working alongside a friendly and supportive team.


There is also the potential for this role to become permanent in the future.


Ko o kawenga / Your Responsibilities


  • Prepare bulk meals for patients in line with menu requirements
  • Prepare special meals and dietary requirements as needed
  • Assist with stock rotation and ordering when required
  • Follow all food safety, hygiene, and health & safety procedures
  • Work efficiently to meet meal service timeframes
  • Maintain a strong understanding of food allergens and dietary needs
  • Support general kitchen cleaning and housekeeping duties
  • Contribute to a positive team environment focused on quality service

You will be someone who:


  • Enjoys cooking and takes pride in preparing quality meals
  • Has a positive attitude and enjoys working as part of a team
  • Remains calm and organised in a busy environment
  • Is reliable, flexible, and willing to help where needed
  • Has previous kitchen or food service experience (advantageous but not essential)
  • Understands the importance of food safety, quality, and patient wellbeing
  • Brings a mature, professional, and caring approach to their work
