We are seeking an experienced and commercially astuteNational Fleet Manager to lead the operational management, performance,compliance and optimisation of our national fleet.

Reporting to the General Manager Fleet & NetworkOptimisation, this is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring our fleetremains safe, compliant, reliable and cost-effective while supporting customerservice, cold chain integrity and operational excellence.


What You'll Be Doing

  • Leading the management and optimisation of Halls' national fleet, including trucks, trailers, refrigeration units and associated assets.
  • Developing fleet lifecycle strategies, replacement programmes and capital investment plans to maximise asset performance.
  • Driving preventative maintenance programmes and improving fleet reliability, availability and uptime.
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant transport regulations, safety requirements, certifications and fleet governance standards.
  • Managing fleet operating budgets, maintenance expenditure, fuel performance and tyre strategies to deliver cost efficiencies.
  • Overseeing fleet systems, telematics and reporting platforms to provide meaningful insights and support operational decision-making.
  • Building strong relationships with suppliers, manufacturers, maintenance providers and internal stakeholders to deliver high service standards.
  • Leading and developing the fleet team while identifying opportunities for continuous improvement across the national network.


What We're Looking For

  • 7+ year’s experience in heavy vehicle fleet management, transport fleet operations, or commercial fleet maintenance environments.
  • Proven leadership experience managing people, suppliers and operational stakeholders across multiple sites.
  • Strong understanding of New Zealand transport compliance requirements, including vehicle maintenance, COF, RUC, permits and fleet safety.
  • Demonstrated experience in asset lifecycle management, budgeting, supplier management and fleet performance improvement.
  • Strong analytical and systems capability, including fleet management software, telematics and reporting tools.
  • Ability to balance operational demands with strategic planning, commercial outcomes and compliance obligations.
  • Proven hands-on fleet leadership experience.
  • Experience managing fleets exceeding 100 heavy vehicles – advantageous
  • Relevant qualification in transport management, engineering, mechanical trades, fleet management or a related discipline – advantageous
  • Experience within refrigerated transport, cold chain logistics, FMCG environments or large-scale transport operations - highly advantageous.
