Job Description

We're looking for a reliable and experienced Maintenance Engineer / Fitter to join our client's team in Hamilton. This is a full-time, ongoing temporary opportunity with an immediate start.


About the Role


As the Maintenance Engineer / Fitter, you'll be responsible for maintaining a highly automated continuous production line. The role requires a combination of strong mechanical, electrical, welding and troubleshooting skills to maximise plant uptime and keep production running efficiently.


Your key responsibilities will include:


  • Diagnosing breakdowns quickly and performing root cause analysis
  • Maintaining cylinders, valves, air systems and hydraulic equipment
  • Maintaining belt conveyors, roller conveyors, transfer tables and drive systems
  • Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO), confined space awareness and working safely around automated equipment
  • Managing planned maintenance systems (CMMS), lubrication schedules and condition monitoring'


What We're Looking For


  • 5+ years' maintenance experience in continuous manufacturing
  • NZ Level 4 Mechanical Engineering/Fitting qualification or equivalent
  • MIG/TIG welding experience – essential
  • Strong mechanical fault-finding skills
  • Experience with automated/PLC-controlled machinery
  • Able to work independently and under pressure
  • Lean, TPM or Kaizen experience is a bonus
  • Forklift, EWP, EST or additional technical certifications are advantageous
  • What's on Offer Pay rate between $40 - $45 per hour + 8% holiday pay
  • Full-time hours
  • Ongoing temporary assignment with the potential for long-term work
  • Immediate start available
  • Supportive team environment and on-the-job training
