Job Description

Permanent, Part-Time | 12 hours per week

  • Looking for a part-time role that fits around your personal schedule?
  • Join a warm, welcoming kindergarten community where tamariki are at the heart of everything we do.
  • Flexible 12 hours per week, which can be spread across three days.

About Us

Ngā Tamariki Puāwai o Tāmaki | Auckland Kindergarten Association (AKA) has been a trusted provider of high-quality early childhood education since 1908. With 112 kindergartens and KiNZ centres across Tāmaki Makaurau, we are committed to creating safe, inclusive and enriching learning environments where tamariki can thrive.

Guided by Te Whāriki, our bicultural approach places tamariki, whānau and communities at the heart of all we do. Our kindergartens provide play-based learning environments that nurture curiosity, confidence and a lifelong love of learning.

About Te Atatū Peninsula Kindergarten

Te Atatū Peninsula Kindergarten offers an extensive and inviting outdoor environment, providing tamariki with stimulating opportunities to explore, play and learn.

We are an inclusive kindergarten and value strong partnerships with whānau. Our professionally qualified kaiako weave te reo Māori and tikanga Māori into everyday practice, creating a welcoming environment where tamariki and their families feel a strong sense of belonging.

The Role

As our Kindergarten Administrator, you will be an important part of the team, working closely with the Head Kaiako, kaiako, support staff and whānau. You will be responsible for the day-to-day administration of the kindergarten, including enrolments and accounts, while providing practical administrative support to help the kindergarten run smoothly.

This is a great opportunity to use your administration skills in a friendly, community-focused environment while enjoying a part-time role that can fit around other commitments.

Things to Note

  • This is a permanent, part-time position of 12 hours per week.
  • There is flexibility for the 12 hours to be spread across three to four days.
  • You will work during kindergarten term time only.
  • Terms and conditions are covered by the Kindergarten Associations Support Staff Collective Agreement.

To Be Successful in This Role, You Will

  • Have previous administration and accounts experience; experience in an early childhood environment would be an advantage but is not essential.
  • Be a confident communicator with a professional, calm and approachable manner.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with our diverse kindergarten community.
  • Be flexible, adaptable and collaborative, with a willingness to pitch in where needed.
  • Be able to self-manage, use initiative and work independently to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Have strong computer skills, preferably including experience using Mac.
  • Bring excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
  • Have a good sense of humour and enjoy being part of a team.
