Job Description

Tradestaff Hawke’s Bay is looking for an experienced Forklift Technician to take on a hands-on role in Hastings.


If you have solid mechanical and electrical knowledge, enjoy fault-finding and take pride in keeping machinery running smoothly, we want to hear from you!


Location: Hastings Central, Hastings

Start date: ASAP

Pay rate: $35–$40 per hour, depending on experience, with weekly pay


What You'll Be Doing


  • Servicing, maintaining and repairing forklifts and material handling equipment.
  • Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults.
  • Carrying out scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance.
  • Troubleshooting breakdowns and completing repairs to minimise downtime.
  • Inspecting and testing equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation.
  • Completing accurate service reports and maintenance records.
  • Attending on-site repairs and providing professional customer service.


What We're Looking For


  • Proven mechanical experience with strong electrical and hydraulic knowledge.
  • Experience servicing forklifts, heavy machinery or similar equipment.
  • Confident fault-finding skills and the ability to use diagnostic software.
  • A current full NZ Driver Licence.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • A reliable, motivated attitude with a strong focus on quality workmanship and safety.
  • Willingness to participate in an on-call roster.
