Job Description

Kia mahi ngātahi mō Pōneke mō tōna āpōpō | Working together for Wellington's future

  • Are you passionate about designing technology solutions that make a real difference? Join our Digital & Technology team as a Solutions Architect and help shape how technology supports our people, services and the future of Wellington.
  • You'll work with business and technical stakeholders to understand needs, design solutions and guide delivery teams through implementation. You'll help ensure our technology is secure, fit for purpose and aligned with our architecture principles: Secure by Design, Customer First Design and Cloud First Design.
  • Working alongside Enterprise and Domain Architects, you'll contribute to solution design, system integration and technology decisions across Council. You'll also help strengthen our architecture standards and ways of working, ensuring solutions are well designed, resilient and support our longer-term direction.

Ko wai koe | About you

  • You'll bring proven experience delivering solution architecture services, from gathering and analysing requirements through to designing integrations, data solutions and security controls. You'll have expertise across AWS, Microsoft 365 and the Microsoft technology stack, along with experience using architecture frameworks such as TOGAF or Zachman and modelling tools such as Sparx, Abacus or Visio.
  • You'll also bring strong stakeholder engagement skills, sound problem-solving ability and the confidence to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences. Knowledge of GIS, document management, database design and the New Zealand public sector environment would be an advantage.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification, such as a degree in Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience, will support you in this role.

You will also bring a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and to continuing to grow your knowledge of tikanga Māori and te reo Māori.
