Job Title: Governance and Assurance Coordinator

Department: Governance and Assurance

Location: Manawatū campus, Palmerston North

Term: Permanent – ongoing

Salary: Garde 5 ($54,973 - $77,676)


Massey University is looking for an organised, curious and highly capable professional to join our Governance and Assurance team in Manawatū.

This is a role with breadth, visibility and purpose. You'll work closely with people across the

University and support governance activity involving University Council, senior leaders and

specialist advisors. From supporting Council and committee processes to coordinating Official Information requests, policies and delegations, you'll gain valuable exposure to how good governance, assurance and organisational decision-making work in practice.


Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About the role

Working with our Governance and Assurance team, you'll help keep some of the University's most important governance processes running effectively.


You'll:

support University Council and its committees, including meeting preparation, minutes

and monitoring actions;

  • coordinate Official Information requests from receipt through to response;
  • maintain and coordinate University policies and review processes;
  • support the University's delegations of authority framework and provide guidance on
  • enquiries;
  • contribute to internal audit and assurance activity;
  • maintain accurate governance information, records and systems;
  • work with senior stakeholders across the University; and
  • look for practical ways to improve governance processes, systems and service delivery.


Ko wai koe | About you

You may already work in governance, executive support, policy, legal administration, local or central government, tertiary education or another environment where confidentiality,

accuracy and professional judgement are important.

You don't necessarily need to have followed a traditional governance career path. We are

interested in the transferable capability you can bring.


You'll ideally have:

  • experience supporting boards, committees, senior leaders or complex decision-making processes;
  • excellent written communication skills, including the ability to produce accurate
  • minutes, reports and correspondence;
  • strong organisational skills and confidence managing competing priorities and
  • deadlines;
  • an ability to interpret policies, procedures and legislation;
  • strong digital capability, including Microsoft Office and SharePoint;
  • excellent attention to detail and document management disciplines;
  • the confidence to build credible relationships with people at all levels; and
  • discretion, integrity and sound judgement when working with sensitive information.
  • A relevant qualification and/or strong experience in executive professional support, board
  • services or policy advice would be valuable.
