About the Role:


Our specialist group home provides a therapeutic residential program tailored specifically for young people. We work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure a safe and supportive environment where rangatahi can thrive.


As a Team Leader, you will lead your team in delivering high-quality therapeutic care with safety as a primary focus. You'll oversee assessments and placement planning, working closely with Oranga Tamariki and other providers to ensure seamless transitions. Your role will also involve driving continuous improvement processes, reflecting our commitment to excellence and innovation.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Utilise a range of social work skills and strategies to work with rangatahi and families, ensuring strengths-based practice is followed
  • Provide consistent supervision and support the personal and professional development of staff.
  • Maintain positive relationships with stakeholders and the community, adhering to Barnardos principles and Ngā Pou e Whā, demonstrating our commitment to partnership and cultural responsiveness.
  • Lead in the assessment and planning of placements, ensuring safety and therapeutic care for young people, in line with our focus on early intervention and prevention.
  • On-call duties to meet our commitment to the National Care Standards and providing continuous support to our residential youth workers in the whare. This is part of an on-call roster system.


Skills and Experience:


  • Qualified Social Worker eligible for membership with an appropriate professional body (preferred).
  • Experience in and passion for working with youth in residential settings
  • Proven experience in contract, financial management, and reporting.
  • Strong leadership skills with a track record in developing and leading effective teams, embodying our principle of empowerment.
  • Excellent planning and organisational abilities.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong community relationships, engaging effectively with stakeholders, whānau, and local services to ensure the best outcomes for rangatahi.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the importance of cultural collaboration and partnership in achieving shared goals for young people.
  • A full clean NZ driver's license.
