  • Highly competitive remuneration package
  • Company vehicle with personal use
  • Genuine senior leadership opportunity

Superior Farm Maintenance & siteworks is looking for a commercially driven Quantity Surveyor / Sales & Operations Manager to join our growing team in Winton.

This isn't a role where you'll spend all day behind a desk measuring plans.

We're looking for someone who can price the work, win the work and help make sure it's delivered profitably.

You'll take ownership of projects from the initial client enquiry and site visit through estimating, quoting, planning, delivery and final handover.

It's a key position within the business, working closely with the Managing Director, Forman and team and playing a major part in where Superior Farm Maintenance & Siteworks goes next.

What you'll be doing

You'll have responsibility across sales, estimating, quoting and project delivery, including:

  • Managing new enquiries, site visits and client relationships
  • Preparing accurate estimates, quotes, tenders and variations
  • Pricing labour, machinery, materials and subcontractors
  • Following up quotes and converting opportunities into profitable work
  • Planning projects from acceptance through to completion
  • Coordinating crews, machinery, subcontractors and suppliers
  • Managing project budgets, programmes and client expectations
  • Monitoring actual costs against quoted costs
  • Protecting and improving gross profit margins
  • Managing variations and obtaining client approvals
  • Maintaining the sales pipeline, quote register and project reporting
  • Identifying opportunities for repeat business and additional work
  • Working closely with the Managing Director and team to improve how we plan and deliver projects

Who we're looking for

We're less concerned about the exact title on your current business card and more interested in what you can do.

You may currently be a Quantity Surveyor, Estimator, Project Manager, Contracts Manager, Construction Manager or an experienced civil/earthworks professional ready to step into a broader commercial role.

Ideally, you'll bring 5+ years' relevant experience across estimating, quantity surveying, project management, civil construction, earthworks or rural contracting.

You'll be someone who:

  • Has strong commercial awareness and understands cost, margin and profit
  • Can accurately quote and price projects
  • Is confident meeting clients and developing new business
  • Communicates and negotiates well
  • Can read and interpret plans, specifications and engineering drawings
  • Is highly organized and capable of managing multiple projects and deadlines
  • Takes ownership and solves problems rather than waiting for someone else to do it
  • Builds strong relationships with clients, suppliers, subcontractors and crews
  • Is confident using Excel and estimating/job management systems
  • Holds a full NZ Driver License and must be a New Zealand citizen, resident, or hold a valid New Zealand work visa with the right to work in this role.
  • Values quality, honesty and reliability

Experience with Xero, Fergus, Tradify, Simpro, NZS3910 contracts, progress claims and variations would be an advantage.

A Quantity Surveying qualification would also be beneficial, but strong practical and commercial experience is equally important to us.

What we offer

For the right person, this is a seriously good opportunity.

You'll receive:

  • Great pay - we'll pay well to secure the right person
  • Company work vehicle with personal use
  • A key position with genuine influence over projects and business performance
  • Variety across office, site, clients, estimating quoting and project delivery
  • The opportunity to work directly with the Managing Director and have a real say in how the business develops
  • Autonomy and responsibility - we want someone capable of owning their role
  • A genuine pathway toward a Commercial Manager or General Manager position as the business grows
