Superior Farm Maintenance & Siteworks is looking for a reliable, practical and experienced Quarry Worker / Gravel Truck Driver / Transporter Operator to join our Southland-based team.


This is a varied, hands-on role for someone who enjoys getting stuck in. One day you could be delivering aggregate to a customer, the next loading and transporting heavy machinery between sites, operating a loader in the quarry, maintaining stockpiles or helping out with earthworks and farm maintenance projects.


We're looking for someone who can work independently, take ownership and look after our gear as if it were their own.


The Role


Your day-to-day work will include:


  • Driving company trucks across quarry, rural and project sites
  • Delivering aggregate and other materials safely and on time
  • Operating a transporter to move excavators, loaders and other heavy equipment between job sites
  • Safely loading, securing, transporting and unloading heavy machinery
  • Ensuring machinery loads comply with load restraint, weight, dimension and road transport requirements
  • Operating loaders and other quarry machinery
  • Loading trucks and maintaining quarry stockpiles
  • Helping with crushing, screening and general quarry operations
  • Completing daily truck, transporter and machinery pre-start checks
  • Keeping trucks, trailers, machinery and work areas clean and well maintained
  • Identifying and reporting maintenance issues early
  • Completing delivery records, timesheets and other required documentation
  • Dealing professionally with customers, farmers and contractors
  • Helping other Superior Farm Maintenance crews when required


What We're Looking For


You will need:


  • A current full NZ Class 5 Driver Licence
  • Proven truck driving experience, ideally in rural, quarry, civil or earthworks environments
  • Experience operating a transporter and moving heavy equipment
  • Confidence loading, securing and unloading excavators, loaders and other machinery
  • Experience operating loaders diggers and/or similar machinery
  • A good understanding of safe loading, load restraint and vehicle weight requirements
  • Good mechanical awareness and an understanding of daily pre-start checks
  • Strong Health & Safety awareness
  • The ability to work independently and organise your own workload
  • Good communication skills
  • Reliability, punctuality and a strong work ethic
  • Pride in looking after trucks, trailers, machinery and equipment


Even better if you have:


  • Wheels, Tracks and Rollers endorsements
  • Quarry or aggregate industry license / experience
  • Loader or excavator operating experience
  • Tip truck & trailer and tipulator experience
  • Strong transporter and heavy machinery relocation experience
  • Earthworks or farm contracting experience
  • Mechanical skills and the ability to carry out minor maintenance
  • First Aid certification
