Tradestaff is looking for experienced Drainlayers to join leading civil infrastructure projects across the Wellington region.


With major investment continuing in water infrastructure, subdivisions, transport and civil construction, this is an excellent opportunity to secure long-term work while building the networks that keep Wellington moving.

About the Role


Working alongside experienced civil crews, you’ll play a key role in delivering underground infrastructure across a variety of projects including water supply, wastewater, stormwater and subdivision developments.


Your day could include:

  • Installing stormwater and wastewater drainage systems
  • Laying water mains and associated pipework
  • Working with deep excavations and large diameter pipelines
  • Installing trench shields, shoring and excavation support systems
  • Working safely around underground services
  • Reading plans and assisting with accurate set out
  • Operating hand and power tools
  • Supporting excavator operators during pipe installation
  • Maintaining a safe, clean and organised worksite

What We’re Looking ForTo be successful in this role you’ll have:

  • Proven experience as a Drainlayer within civil construction
  • Experience working around underground services and deep excavations
  • A strong commitment to health and safety
  • Pride in delivering quality workmanship
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work well within a team
  • Full Class 1 Driver Licence
  • Class 2 and WTR endorsements (advantageous)
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screening
