Job Description

We're seeking experienced Civil Plant Operators for a major civil construction project in Picton, commencing January 2027.


With a significant programme of drainage, earthworks and roading ahead, we have multiple positions available for capable operators who are confident working across a variety of civil environments.


Drainage experience is particularly valuable for this project; however, we're also keen to hear from experienced all-round operators with strong earthmoving and roading backgrounds.


What We're Looking For


  • Proven civil plant operating experience
  • Experience operating excavators ranging from 1.5T to 20T
  • Confidence operating rollers, loaders and other civil machinery
  • Drainage, earthworks and/or roading experience
  • Ability to dig accurately to levels
  • Experience working around live services and within trench shields is highly regarded
  • Final trim experience would be an advantage
  • Dozer experience is a bonus
  • Site Safe or ConstructSafe required

For the right candidate, our client may be able to accommodate an earlier start date based in either Christchurch or Picton.


What's on Offer


Hourly rates of $33–$38, depending on experience and capability, with multiple positions available on a major 12-month civil construction project.

Earlier opportunities may also be available for exceptional candidates who are available before Christmas.


Location & Accommodation


This position is based in Picton. Accommodation, travel and relocation allowances are not currently provided. Applicants must be willing and able to arrange their own travel and accommodation if relocating.
