He angitūtanga / The opportunity:

We are looking for a reliable Assistant - Catering to join our team at CHT Onewa Care Home in Birkenhead. This is a permenant part-time position offering 26.5 guaranteed hours every week.

You will help prepare, present and serve quality meals while providing warm and professional service to our residents. You will also support food safety, hygiene and the smooth daily operation of the kitchen and dining areas.

Ko o kawenga / Your responsibilities:

  • Assist with preparing, portioning, plating and presenting food for service
  • Support vegetable, salad and baking preparation as required
  • Provide warm, friendly and professional service to residents
  • Follow food safety plans, modified diet requirements and infection control procedures
  • Maintain clean and tidy kitchen, dining and food service areas
  • Wash dishes, clean equipment and assist with receiving and rotating stock

He kōrero mōu / About you:

  • Previous experience in a similar catering or food service role
  • Good baking skills and confidence assisting with food preparation
  • A team-focused approach with the ability to work independently
  • Clear communication skills and a warm, professional manner
  • A flexible, hardworking, dependable and positive attitude
  • Physically fit and committed to food safety, hygiene and safe manual handling
