Job Description

Are you an experienced Accounts Payable professional who enjoys working in a busy environment, solving problems, and building strong relationships across a business?

We are seeking an Accounts Payable Officer to join a well-established national organisation based in Whakatāne. This is an opportunity to join a high-performing finance team where your technical capability, attention to detail, and stakeholder management skills will be genuinely valued.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, you’ll play a key role in ensuring suppliers are paid accurately and on time while working closely with stakeholders across multiple locations throughout New Zealand.

About the Role This is a high-volume AP position with plenty of variety and responsibility. You’ll manage incoming invoices through a centralised inbox, coordinate with site-based administrators across the country, and help ensure payments are processed efficiently and accurately.

The business is currently undertaking a systems transformation project, making it an exciting time to join and contribute to ongoing process improvements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Processing supplier invoices and payments
  • Managing a centralised accounts payable inbox
  • Investigating and resolving invoice and payment queries
  • Liaising with internal stakeholders nationwide to confirm approvals and prioritise payments
  • Assisting with weekly and monthly payment runs
  • Maintaining accurate supplier records and account reconciliations
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives within the finance function
  • Contributing positively to a collaborative and high-performing team culture

We’re looking for someone who is more than a transactional AP processor. You’ll be a proactive problem solver who enjoys taking ownership of your work and building effective relationships across the business.

Ideally You Will Have:

  • Previous Accounts Payable experience in a busy environment
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Intermediate Excel skills, including formulas and lookups
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently
  • Experience with ERP systems (Pronto experience is advantageous but not essential)

About the Team You’ll join a diverse and inclusive organisation with team members located throughout New Zealand. Collaboration is a key part of the culture, with regular Microsoft Teams communication and a supportive finance leadership team focused on continuously lifting capability and performance.

The organisation values different perspectives, backgrounds, and experiences, creating an environment where people can thrive and contribute their best work.

What’s on Offer?

  • A supportive and collaborative team environment
  • Birthday leave
  • Exposure to systems and process improvement projects
  • Modern office environment
  • Long-term career development opportunities within a national business.

If you’re looking for a role where you can make an impact, enhance your skills, and be part of a team committed to excellence, we’d love to hear from you.
