  • First step into Store Leadership
  • Ideal for someone with a genuine interest in cycling
  • Join the team at Pushbikes Papanui

This is the first step into store leadership. We are hiring a senior salesperson who reports directly to the Store Manager. You will run the store on one rostered day a week, and be developed toward Assistant Store Manager and then Store Manager.

About the role

Papanui is growing and we need senior salespeople who lead from the shop floor. You will sell, build long-term customer relationships, run the store on your rostered day in charge, and share responsibility when the Store Manager is away.

You need solid product knowledge in bikes or a closely related category, and you need to ride. You switch easily between serving customers, following up leads and orders, and keeping the floor stocked and presentable without being asked.

What you will do:

  • Sell bikes, parts, accessories and workshop services, and hit personal and store sales targets
  • Deliver excellent service in store, by phone and online
  • Run the store as person in charge on your rostered day each week and when covering absences: opening and closing, cash reconciliation and finance deals, directing the team, and resolving customer issues within your authority
  • Coach newer salespeople on product knowledge and sales process
  • Manage stock: restocking, inwards goods, stock-takes
  • Keep merchandising and store presentation & housekeeping to standard

You will have a development plan from your first 90 days, reviewed every six months. Promotion depends on demonstrated leadership, not sales alone.

Already an Assistant Manager or 2IC? We want to hear from you. We plan to appoint an Assistant Store Manager at Papanui once the team is settled, and we are open to an informal conversation now with experienced Assistant Managers and 2ICs, whether about that role or this one. Send your CV to Anneliese at operations@pushbikes.co.nz and tell us which role interests you.

What we are looking for:

  • Retail experience in sporting goods; bike retail strongly preferred
  • Good knowledge of bikes and riding, from work, racing, or your own riding
  • Experience leading a shop floor and directing team members
  • Cash handling experience; customer finance applications an advantage
  • Available to work at least one weekend day every week and flex if needed
  • Clear communicator with a professional, can-do attitude

  • Long service leave
