The College of Sciences is seeking to employ an Academic Administration Team Lead to join our team based on Massey University’s Manawatū campus in Palmerston North. This position is a full-time, permanent opportunity.

As the Academic Administration Team Lead, you will lead a team of academic administrators to deliver high-quality support across the College's academic programmes and governance activities. Combining people leadership with specialist administrative expertise, you will oversee key academic processes, support student success, and ensure services are delivered accurately, efficiently, and in line with university requirements.


Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Leading, mentoring, and supporting a team of academic administration staff.
  • Providing expert guidance across academic administration processes and systems.
  • Supporting academic governance, committees, and curriculum management activities.
  • Overseeing student records and ensuring timely, accurate administration services.
  • Managing complex cases, exceptions, and process improvements.
  • Contributing to admissions, undergraduate and postgraduate administration, placements/WiL, and other specialised academic administration functions as required.

You are an experienced academic administration professional with a passion for delivering high-quality service and leading teams to success. You bring strong organisational skills, the ability to manage multiple priorities, and a collaborative approach to working with a wide range of stakeholders. With a sound understanding of academic processes and quality assurance requirements, you are confident navigating complex environments and

driving continuous improvement.


To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Relevant experience in academic administration, preferably within a tertiary education environment.
  • Knowledge of academic qualifications, courses, programme development, and quality assurance requirements.
  • Proven experience leading and developing teams.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to build effective working relationships.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating projects and managing multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Excellent organisational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with university systems and processes would be an advantage.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification (desirable).
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development and continuous learning.
