Te Kunenga ki Pūrehuroa Massey University’s Te Tumu Whakatipu offers university

preparation courses and programmes for learners transitioning to degree studies. We have

an Aotearoa-wide focus with a physical presence on the Pukeahu, Turitea, and Ōtehā

campuses where we offer courses alongside our online delivery.

We have a permanent full-time appointment at Tutor/Senior Tutor level with preferred

location being Wellington.


Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

Opportunities exist for passionate and enthusiastic kaiako who have a proven background in supporting ākonga. We are looking for an experienced and successful kaiako to teach courses in our Foundation Pathway Programmes, with expertise in one or more of science, health science, numeracy, Māori culture, and core academic skills.

The ideal teacher will be a Te Tiriti-practitioner who has an understanding of senior secondary school and foundation-level education in Aotearoa as well as an interest in curriculum development, promoting and sustaining success, and e-learning. This role involves working with a collaborative, multidisciplinary team in the delivery of our pathway programmes. We also encourage early career educators to apply.


This position falls within a Tutor / Senior Tutor salary range. The agreed salary will

consider the candidate’s qualifications and experience.


Salary Range:

Tutor - $66,299 - $87,116

Senior Tutor - $86,116 - $100,987

To be successful in this role you must have:

  • Relevant undergraduate (Tutor) or postgraduate (Senior Tutor) degree with a teaching qualification is essential.
  • Familiarity within the context of enabling and bridging education at foundation level in
  • Aotearoa.
  • Demonstrated success as a classroom facilitator of adult and/or senior secondary school learning to support ākonga develop confidence, skills, and competencies to pathway successfully into further study.
  • Proven interest and competence in multiple modes and mediums of teaching.
  • Strong track record of continual professional development and willingness to engage in future opportunities particularly within our context as Te Tiriti-led practitioners.
  • Any other relevant experience you feel you could bring to this role
