About the opportunity

Our client is a long-standing New Zealand organisation with over two decades of experience delivering essential projects that support growing communities. Operating across a diverse range of projects including civil works, general contracting, transport, drainage, earthworks, and roading


This role offers a mix of workshop and field-based work, providing exposure to a wide range of trucks, heavy machinery, and mobile plant. From routine servicing to complex diagnostics and repairs, you'll play a key role in keeping equipment operating safely and efficiently.


Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out servicing, maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs across a diverse fleet of trucks, trailers, earthmoving equipment, agricultural machinery, light vehicles, and small plant.
  • Split time between workshop-based repairs and onsite field maintenance activities.
  • Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and transmission faults and implement effective solutions.
  • Complete preventative maintenance to maximise fleet reliability and minimise downtime.
  • Maintain accurate service records and documentation of completed work.
  • Ensure all work is carried out safely and in accordance with company procedures and industry standards.
  • Work closely with internal teams, contractors, and suppliers to keep equipment operating efficiently

About you

  • Qualified heavy diesel mechanic
  • 3 years of experience preferred working on Heavy machinery, plant, civil or relevant industry related equipment
  • Holds a Class 1 & 2 license Aswell as WTR preferred
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think on your feet when working in the field
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with colleagues, contractors, and suppliers
  • Good time management and administration skills, including accurate recording of completed work
  • The ability to work autonomously while also contributing to a small, close-knit team
  • A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and commitment to safety
