Job Description

Heavy Civil Carpenter

Tradestaff International is looking for an experienced Heavy Civil Carpenter to join major infrastructure projects across Canterbury, Marlborough and other South Island locations. This role suits a skilled carpenter with strong formwork and concrete construction experience who is confident working in demanding civil environments.


Location: Canterbury, Marlborough and other South Island locations

Start date: Immediate start

Pay rate: $30–$38 per hour + weekly pay


  • What You’ll Be DoingComplete heavy formwork and boxing for civil structures
  • Construct and install concrete formwork to project specifications
  • Work on bridges, retaining walls, culverts and other infrastructure
  • Read and interpret plans, drawings and technical specifications
  • Measure, cut, assemble and install formwork accurately
  • Work effectively alongside plant operators and other civil construction crews
  • Maintain high standards of workmanship throughout each stage of construction
  • What We’re Looking ForProven heavy civil or commercial carpentry experience
  • Strong formwork and concrete construction skills
  • Ability to confidently read and interpret construction plans
  • Site Safe or ConstructSafe certification
  • Relevant carpentry qualification or equivalent practical experience
  • Full NZ Driver Licence
  • Strong commitment to health and safety on civil construction sites
