About us

Green Valley Gardening is Wellington's premium garden maintenance company and Registered Master Landscapers. We look after some of the region's finest properties, including private estates, schools and

embassy and diplomatic residences. Our team of qualified gardeners does one thing and does it properly: regular, high-quality maintenance, week in and week out. No one-off clean-ups, no lawn-mowing runs. You'd be joining a growing business that has just been announced as a finalist in the 2degrees Wellington Regional Business Excellence Awards 2026.

The role

You'll join one of our two-person teams, caring for the same gardens on a regular programme so you see the long-term results of your work. Day to day that means pruning, hedge and shrub work, weeding, mulching, planting, fertilising and lawn edges, using Makita battery tools and well-equipped vehicles. Gardens are across the Wellington region, Monday to Friday, typically 8am to 4pm. Some days are physical and we work in all weather.

About you:

  • At least 2 years' practical garden maintenance experience (a Level 4 Horticulture qualification is a bonus)
  • Sound plant knowledge and a genuine eye for detail
  • Able to work to a high standard with minimal supervision
  • Presentable, polite and positive with clients and team
  • Full driver's licence and reliable transport to reach different job sites each morning
  • Willing to undergo police vetting, as some of our properties require additional security vetting

What we offer:

  • Work on some of Wellington's most prestigious gardens
  • Competitive pay based on experience
  • Full time or part time hours, Monday to Friday
  • Quality battery tools and branded vehicles
  • Paid birthday leave and an annual boot allowance
  • Training and career development
  • A supportive, high-standards team with regular social events

Send an up-to-date CV and a few lines on the gardens you've worked on and what you enjoy most about the work.
