Cable Jointer


Our client is a well-established electrical infrastructure contractor delivering essential projects across transmission, distribution, generation and industrial sectors throughout New Zealand. Due to continued growth and a strong project pipeline, they're seeking an experienced Cable Jointer to join their team.


About the Role


As a Cable Jointer, you'll be responsible for carrying out cable jointing and termination work safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. You'll work alongside experienced industry professionals on a range of critical electrical infrastructure projects.


Key responsibilities include:


  • Installing, jointing and terminating underground power cables
  • Completing testing, fault-finding and commissioning activities
  • Working across distribution, transmission, industrial and generation environments
  • Maintaining high standards of health, safety and quality
  • Supporting project delivery and meeting client requirements
  • Providing technical support and guidance to apprentices and field staff
  • Building positive relationships with clients and stakeholders
  • Identifying and managing site-based risks and opportunities for improvement


What You'll Bring


To be successful in this role, you'll have:


  • Minimum 3 years' experience as a Cable Jointer
  • Current EWRB Practising Licence with relevant cable jointing competencies
  • Experience within power distribution, transmission, generation or industrial environments
  • Strong technical knowledge and troubleshooting skills
  • A solid understanding of safe work practices and PCBU responsibilities
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • A proactive and safety-first approach
  • Full Class 1 Driver Licence
