He angitūtanga / The opportunity:


We are looking for a friendly and proactive Catering Assistant to join our Air New Zealand Lounge team at Nelson Airport.

This is a permanent position with 15 guaranteed hours per week . You will help create an outstanding lounge experience by delivering warm customer service, preparing and presenting food, serving beverages and espresso coffee, and maintaining a welcoming environment.

You will work closely with your teammates to ensure customers receive the high-quality service expected within the lounge while meeting food safety, responsible alcohol service and workplace safety standards.


Ko o kawenga / Your responsibilities:


  • Deliver friendly, professional and attentive service to lounge customers.
  • Prepare, present and replenish food in line with menu and dietary requirements.
  • Prepare and serve beverages and espresso coffee to a high standard.
  • Maintain clean, hygienic and well-presented lounge, buffet and kitchen areas.
  • Receive, store and rotate stock while helping to minimise waste.


He kōrero mōu / About you:


  • Previous experience in a similar catering, lounge or hospitality role.
  • A valid Responsible Service of Alcohol certificate.
  • Good communication skills and a positive, customer-focused approach.
  • The ability to work effectively within a team and independently when required.
  • A flexible, reliable and hardworking attitude, with good physical fitness.
  • An NZQA Food Handling Certificate covering Units 167 and 168 would be advantageous.
