We're looking for an experienced people leader to join our Financial Crime Business Assurance team as a Quality Assurance Manager. This is a unique opportunity to combine your financial crime knowledge with your passion for developing people, strengthening quality assurance practices and driving operational improvement. Leading a team of Quality Assurance Analysts, you'll play a key role in supporting QA activity, building capability and using assurance insights to improve process quality, consistency and operational effectiveness across Financial Crime Business Assurance.

Mō te Tūranga | About the role

This role is ideal for someone with solid Financial Crime Compliance experience, a good understanding of the different workstreams across financial crime, and a genuine interest in quality assurance, coaching and developing others. You'll work across multiple streams, partnering with leaders, Risk and Compliance to support QA activities, identify opportunities for improvement, strengthen capability, support regulatory compliance and enhance customer and business outcomes.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering capability initiatives through training, workshops, presentations and coaching programmes.
  • Leading, coaching and developing a team of Quality Assurance Analysts, providing guidance, training and development opportunities.
  • Assisting with the development, implementation and maintenance of comprehensive QA frameworks, and procedures aligned to regulatory requirements and organisational goals.
  • Monitoring and evaluating the quality, consistency and effectiveness of financial crime operational processes through QA activity, identifying risks, trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Ensuring QA activities support compliance with applicable regulations, industry standards and internal policies.
  • Driving process and change initiatives that improve efficiency, strengthen operational effectiveness and create capacity across Financial Crime Business Assurance.
  • Translating industry developments, emerging threats and regulatory changes into practical learning opportunities for the team.
  • Partnering with stakeholders across Financial Crime, Risk and Compliance to support a cohesive approach to quality, compliance and operational improvement.
  • Supporting project and change management activity linked to process improvements, ensuring smooth transitions and strong user adoption.
  • Fostering a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, high performance and knowledge sharing by using assurance insights to identify opportunities.
  • Providing insights and recommendations from QA activity that strengthen risk management, process quality and operational performance.

Ō Pūmanawa | About you

You'll be a collaborative and engaging people leader with strong Financial Crime Compliance knowledge, a good understanding of how the different financial crime workstreams connect, and a passion for quality, coaching and developing others. Most importantly, you'll understand the operational context well enough to guide meaningful QA activity, facilitate learning and help others build their knowledge and capability.

You'll ideally bring:

  • Strong Financial Crime Compliance experience, with an understanding of AML/CFT workstreams such as Onboarding/Know Your Customer, Transaction Monitoring, Enhanced Customer Due Diligence, as well as Sanctions
  • A practical understanding of financial crime and the AML/CFT legislation, risk management methodologies, regulatory obligations and how these apply in an operational environment.
  • Quality assurance, internal audit or risk management experience would be advantageous, but is not essential.
  • Proven people leadership experience, including coaching, mentoring and developing high-performing teams.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex information, identify trends and make sound recommendations.
  • Sound change management experience and the ability to support teams through process improvement and implementation activity.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, stakeholder management and influencing skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and a practical approach to balancing quality, compliance, efficiency and customer outcomes.
  • Experience delivering training, workshops, presentations or capability programmes.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and reporting platforms would be advantageous.
  • A proactive, personable and collaborative leadership style, with a commitment to continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
