Job Title: Research Systems Support Analyst

Department: Research Operations

Location: Manawatū campus, Palmerston North

We are seeking an experienced Research Systems Support Analyst to join our Research Operations team. This role provides first line incident management, business analysis, system testing, and administrative support for the information systems underpinning the management and administration of Massey’s research activities. This is a full-time position based on the Manawatū campus in Palmerston North.

In this varied and rewarding role, you'll play a key part in supporting and enhancing the systems that underpin the University's research operations. Working closely with stakeholders across the organisation, you'll help ensure critical business systems run smoothly while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.


In this role you will:

  • Act as the first point of contact for system users, providing responsive support and resolving enquiries and issues.
  • Investigate, troubleshoot, and help resolve system incidents and problems, ensuring users are kept informed throughout the process.
  • Support the ongoing administration, configuration, and maintenance of Research Operations systems.
  • Assist with system upgrades, enhancements, and projects, including system testing and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
  • Help support and optimise PowerApps-based systems and workflows that underpin internal funding and research award processes.
  • Perform data analysis and ad hoc reporting using tools such as SQL to support business needs and system improvements.
  • Create and maintain user guides, training materials, and online learning resources to support system adoption and capability.
  • Build strong working relationships with stakeholders across the
  • University, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
  • Gather business requirements, analyse processes, and contribute to the identification and implementation of system and process improvements.
  • Support the development of efficient, user-focused solutions that leverage technology to enhance research administration services.

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have proven experience providing system support, analysis, and testing in an IT or research administration support environment.
  • Be familiar with Research Management systems and processes in tertiary education (advantageous).
  • Have strong problem-solving skills, accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Be proficiency in Microsoft PowerApps, SharePoint and SQL.
  • Have a customer focused midst with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.

The salary for this position will depend on skills and experience but will be in

the range of Grade 6 ($71,274 - $101,329).
