Job Description

At RealNZ, we're all about creating unforgettable experiences in some of the most incredible places in Aotearoa. Behind these experiences is a team of passionate people keeping our marine fleet safe, reliable and ready for operation.

We're looking for an experienced and solutions-focused Marine Engineer to join our Marine Asset team. This is an exciting opportunity to put your engineering expertise to work across a diverse fleet of vessels, supporting everything from day-to-day engineering challenges through to major upgrades and improvement projects.

No two days will look quite the same! Working alongside our Marine Maintenance and Operations teams, you'll identify opportunities to improve vessel performance, reliability and sustainability, while finding practical, cost-effective solutions to engineering challenges.

You'll also collaborate with contractors, engineering consultants and internal teams to plan and deliver projects, ensuring all work meets safety and compliance standards. Along the way, you'll help improve our asset management processes and share your knowledge with the wider team.

We're after someone who enjoys solving problems, can see the bigger picture and knows how to turn engineering ideas into practical outcomes.

What you'll bring:

  • A Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) qualification.
  • Experience working with engineering consultants and contractors in construction, maintenance or project environments.
  • Strong project management, planning and organisational skills.
  • Sound financial understanding, including budgeting, cost management and reporting.
  • Great communication skills and the ability to build positive working relationships across different teams.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach and a genuine commitment to safety.
  • A full driver's licence.

What's in it for you?

  • Work with one of NZ's largest fleet of vessels in a progressive company
  • Permanent, Te Anau based role with regular travel
  • Get ready for adventure! Enjoy exclusive staff rates (and even free access on select experiences) across RealNZ's incredible offerings. Raft down Queenstown's rivers, dine at Walter Peak, explore the Te Anau Glowworm Caves, and cruise through the breathtaking Milford and Doubtful Sounds.
  • Enjoy a free ski pass and medical insurance cover to keep you covered on and off the mountain!
  • Remuneration for this role will depend on your experience ($40-$50 per hour)

Real people, real places, real experiences. Welcome to RealNZ.

We're the conservation business that's enabled by tourism. We're helping the world, one guest at a time, fall in love with conservation. We're inspiring people to leave their places in better conditions than when they found them. We channel a guest-centric approach that fuels our genuine promise to deliver Aotearoa's most unforgettable experiences.

It's our workplace environment that makes careers at RealNZ more exciting than the regular job. Working for Real could mean you're based anywhere between a secluded island, a scenic fiord, and a snow-capped maunga. Our people, places, and workdays are a great and diverse mixture. It keeps us on our toes and adds value and passion to our work.
