Job Description

There is a lot of glass moving through AGP every day, and once production has done its job, someone needs to make sure the finished product gets to the right customer, in the right condition and at the right time.


That is where our Despatch team comes in.


We are looking for a Despatch Operator to join our permanent afternoon shift team.

This is a practical, hands on role responsible for preparing finished glass for despatch, checking orders, safely handling and loading glass, and making sure trucks leave AGP with the correct product ready for our customers.


It is an important role. If Despatch does not get it right, our customers feel it.


What you will get stuck into


  • Preparing completed glass orders for despatch
  • Checking glass and orders to make sure the right product is going to the right customer
  • Safely handling and moving large sheets and packs of finished glass
  • Using gantry, forklift and other material handling equipment
  • Checking finished glass for damage or issues before it leaves site
  • Scanning, recording and completing despatch requirements accurately
  • Organising completed orders within the Despatch area
  • Working with production teams to make sure completed orders are ready when required
  • Working alongside drivers and transport teams to keep deliveries moving efficiently
  • Keeping the Despatch and loading areas organised, clean and safe
  • Following strict safety procedures when working around glass, trucks, machinery and lifting equipment


The kind of person we are looking for


  • You do not need to come from the glass industry.
  • We are more interested in finding someone who is reliable, practical and comfortable working in a busy manufacturing and logistics environment.
  • You are someone who understands that accuracy matters. Sending the wrong glass, missing part of an order or damaging finished product can have a real impact on our customers.
  • You work safely, communicate well and take pride in making sure the job is done properly.


Ideally, you will bring:


  • Previous experience in manufacturing, warehousing, despatch, logistics or a similar environment
  • Experience loading trucks or preparing customer orders would be an advantage
  • Forklift, gantry or other material handling experience would be useful
  • Confidence working around large and heavy materials
  • Good attention to detail and accuracy
  • A strong approach to health and safety
  • The ability to work efficiently while still doing the job properly
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Reliability and a willingness to get stuck in
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Full training will be provided on our glass handling processes, equipment and systems.
