About the role


We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Food Services Manager (Chef) to take over the leadership of our Kitchen and continue to work as part of the team ‘on the tools’ cooking at Metlifecare Papakura Oaks.


This position is responsible for the profitable management of the kitchen operations, ensuring a professional customer experience. You will have the opportunity to make your mark on our reputation for food quality and culinary excellence for our care home residents.


This role is working Monday to Friday, but there will be the need to be flexible to work some weekends if there is an event on.


Key responsibilities will include:


  • Oversee daily kitchen operations - which runs 7 days a week - including food preparation, cooking , and maintaining a high level of meal presentation.
  • Complete management of stock control, overall policies, and procedures in the kitchen, including internal audits
  • Responsibility for the recruitment, leadership, and supervision of the kitchen employees; capability/development; training and annual performance reviews.
  • Preparing attractive, profitable menus for our residents.
  • Shaping the dining experience and service making certain your team deliver to the highest standard possible.
  • Engaging with residents to identify new service
  • Responsibility for the health, safety and wellbeing of self and others within the workplace.


About you:


You will be an experienced Chef with management experience from within a hospitality setting. Experience working in an Aged Care setting would be advantageous.  You will be a natural leader and able to build a culture of service.  You have strong IT skills to enable you to effectively navigate the digital side of the role.
