Job Description

Welcome to the Pharmacy Team

At Woolworths Pharmacy, we have a growing network of over 47 pharmacies across the country. We come together to provide our local communities with options and convenience in meeting their pharmaceutical needs.

Joining our pharmacy team, you’ll be the sort of person that thrives in an environment where you can make a meaningful difference, where our customers come first, and where you can leverage your knowledge and experience for the benefit of our communities.

What you'll do

We’re looking for an adaptable, energetic Floating Pharmacist to join our nationwide Woolworths Pharmacy network. While you will provide roving coverage across the country, you will be anchored to a designated home pharmacy closest to where you live, reporting directly to your local Pharmacy Manager .

This is essentially the ultimate permanent locum opportunity—offering the variety and adventure of roving coverage paired with the security and backing of a permanent team member. Traveling across our North and South Island pharmacies, you'll take accountability for:

  • Delivering professional health services: Provide clinical excellence, patient counselling, vaccinations, and community healthcare initiatives across diverse regional and metro stores.

  • Dispensing medicines accurately: Step into varying dispensaries seamlessly, maintaining high standards of clinical accuracy, patient safety, and legal compliance.

  • Roving leadership & coverage: Provide confident relief and sole-charge coverage during planned leave, unexpected surges, and peak seasonal periods.

  • Collaboration & workflow support: Rapidly integrate with local Pharmacy Managers, Dispensary Technicians, and store teams to keep daily dispensary operations running smoothly.

  • Reviewing stock & retail standards: Assist with dispensary stock management, ordering, and ensuring high standards of merchandising.

  • Outstanding customer service: Bring energy, empathy, and care to every community you serve, ensuring every customer leaves with trusted guidance.

What you'll bring

To succeed in this role, you will need to be the sort of person that thrives in an environment where you can make a meaningful difference, where our customers come first, and where you can leverage your knowledge and experience for the benefit of our community. You will always strive to do the right thing for our customers.

Because this is a roving, nationwide position, it takes a very specific, adventurous mindset. Specifically, you will bring:

  • Agility & Adaptability: A natural ability to walk into a new dispensary, quickly assess workflows and systems, and hit the ground running without skipping a beat.

  • Thriving on the Go: A genuine love for travel, embracing new environments, and exploring different communities across both the North and South Islands.

  • People Connection: Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills to build immediate rapport with local team members, healthcare providers, and patients.

  • Qualifications & Registration: A completed Bachelor of Pharmacy (or equivalent recognised by the Pharmacy Council of New Zealand) and a current Annual Practising Certificate (APC).

  • Licence & Mobility: A full, clean New Zealand Driver Licence and the flexibility to travel regularly (with rostered travel planned in advance).

  • Work Rights: Valid legal documentation and right to work in Aotearoa New Zealand.

  • Clinical Accreditations: Current CPR and Vaccinator accreditation (or willingness to complete accreditation promptly).

What you'll experience

Our purpose is to make Kiwis’ lives a little better every day.

For our Floating Pharmacist, you get the best of both worlds: all the freedom and variety of locuming, backed by the guaranteed stability of a permanent salary and full corporate benefits. As a Woolworths Pharmacy team member, you will receive a generous salary, as well as:

Comprehensive Travel Package:

  • All domestic flights are fully paid and arranged.

  • Generous vehicle mileage allowance, or car hire provided.

  • Comfortable, quality accommodation and travel allowances covered whenever you are on assignment away from your home base.

  • Guaranteed Security & Leave: Full financial peace of mind with guaranteed salaried hours—no chasing invoices or dealing with locum agency downtime—plus 4 weeks paid annual leave, sick leave, and KiwiSaver.

  • Professional Registration Covered: Full reimbursement of your Annual Practising Certificate (APC) and PDA professional indemnity insurance.

  • Support Further Learning: Generous funding for continuing professional development, specialised clinical training, and paid courses.

  • Everyday Savings: Team grocery discount card giving you 5% to 10% off your groceries across Woolworths, plus half-price online delivery (and free delivery for new parents).

  • Wellbeing & Retail Perks: 24/7 confidential mental health and wellbeing support through Sonder and our Employee Assistance Program (EAP), alongside exclusive team discounts on health insurance, dental, gym memberships, JB Hi-Fi, PB Tech, and more.

  • Clear Career Development: Regular pay reviews and tailored pathways into Pharmacy Management, specialist clinical roles, or wider support-office leadership.
