At ESS, we believe great service starts with looking after our people. We're looking for a friendly and reliable Bar Assistant to join our team at Burnham Military Camp on a fixed-term basis for approximately three months . Oppotunity to extend depending on business need.


This role offers 29 guaranteed hours per week , an immediate start , and the opportunity to work in a unique Defence environment where you'll be supported by a welcoming team that values safety, teamwork and personal wellbeing.


As part of our team, you'll help create a friendly and enjoyable experience for customers while developing valuable hospitality skills in a workplace where your contribution is appreciated and your health and safety always come first.


Ko o kawenga / Your responsibilities


  • Prepare the bar for service and serve beverages professionally and responsibly.
  • Provide friendly, welcoming and helpful service to every customer.
  • Follow responsible service of alcohol requirements and company procedures.
  • Process customer payments accurately using the cash register and point-of-sale system.
  • Maintain clean, hygienic and well-organised bar, customer and storage areas.
  • Assist with stocktaking, ordering, stock rotation and daily reconciliation of takings.

  • Hold a current Responsible Service of Alcohol Certificate.
  • Have previous bar, hospitality or customer service experience.
  • Be friendly, reliable and enjoy working with people.
  • Have strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Be flexible, organised and able to work effectively under pressure.
  • Take pride in maintaining high standards of health, safety and responsible service.
