Job Description

Class 5 Driver / Yardman – Night Shift | Mt Wellington

Our client is looking for an experienced Class 5 Driver / Yardman to join a busy seafood operation based in Mt Wellington.


This isn’t your typical metro delivery driving role. You’ll spend the majority of your shift on-site, using your Class 5 driving skills to move and position truck and trailer units while also getting stuck into the day-to-day yard operation.


Responsibilities:

  • Reversing and positioning truck and trailer units into the unloading area
  • Collecting and moving fish bins and ice around the site
  • Assisting the team with unloading fish
  • Washing out and keeping trucks clean
  • General yard duties and helping out where required
  • Occasional runs to the fish market in the CBD
  • Operating a forklift on site


This is a hands-on role, so we’re looking for someone who is happy to jump out of the vehicle and help the team rather than spend the whole shift behind the wheel.


Hours & Pay Rate:

  • Sunday to Thursday – night shift
  • For approximately the first 2 weeks while training: 5:30pm – 5:00am
  • Once trained, your regular hours will be: 5:30pm – 2:00am
  • Pay Rate: $35 ph


Successful candidates must:

  • Have a full Class 5 NZ Driver's License
  • Have a valid OSH/Counterbalance forklift license
  • Confident reversing and manoeuvring truck and trailer units
  • Good practical driving skills and safety awareness
  • Physically capable and comfortable with hands-on yard work
  • Reliable and comfortable working night shifts
  • Good safety behaviour - making safe choices, confident to speak up and be actively involved in Safety and Wellbeing
  • Good conduct - acting with honesty, respect, responsibility and accountability and followingthe rules
  • Must be able to understand instruction and communicate clearly
