Mechanical Fitter Welder

Ready to put your heavy industrial maintenance skills to work?


We're looking for an experienced trade-qualified Fitter Welder to join a well-established concrete quarry based in Drury.

If you hold a NZQA Level 4 Mechanical Engineering qualification (or recognised overseas equivalent) and have experience working in mining, quarrying, heavy industrial or manufacturing environments, this is an excellent opportunity to join a skilled maintenance team where your experience will be valued.

From preventative maintenance and breakdown repairs to fabrication work and planned shutdowns, you'll play an important role in keeping critical plant and equipment operating safely and efficiently.


Location: Drury, Auckland

Start date: ASAP

Pay rate: $32.00–$34.00 per hour (Weekly pay)

About the Role

This is a varied maintenance role where you'll be responsible for servicing, repairing and maintaining heavy quarry plant and fixed equipment.

Working alongside an experienced team, you'll carry out preventative maintenance, respond to breakdowns, complete fabrication work and contribute to planned shutdowns to keep operations running safely and efficiently.


  • Key ResponsibilitiesCarry out mechanical fitting, fabrication and welding on heavy quarry plant
  • Perform preventative maintenance and scheduled servicing
  • Participate in planned shutdowns and major maintenance projects
  • Diagnose faults and respond to mechanical breakdowns
  • Inspect, maintain and repair conveyors, crushers, screens and fixed plant
  • Complete maintenance records while following health and safety procedures
  • What We're Looking ForNZQA Level 4 Mechanical Engineering qualification (or recognised overseas equivalent) – essential
  • Proven experience as a trade-qualified Fitter Welder
  • Experience working in mining, quarrying, heavy industrial or manufacturing environments
  • Strong mechanical fitting, fabrication and welding skills
  • Experience maintaining conveyors, crushers, screens or other fixed plant
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and work independently
  • Strong commitment to health and safety
  • Reliable, proactive and a team player
  • Work ConditionsMonday to Friday roster
  • Overtime and occasional weekend work may be required
  • Workshop and outdoor quarry environment
