ABOUT THE ROLE:

This is a chance to play a key role in the Back End Modernisation team, as the business moves from PHP to .NET


You will work within the engineering team to deliver reliable, secure, maintainable, and high-quality software across the modern cloud environment.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

These will include, but not be limited to:

  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain software that supports their products, customers, and internal systems.
  • Build software that is secure, reliable, maintainable, scalable, and appropriate for the problem being solved.
  • Analyse requirements and contribute to technical approaches, solution design, and implementation.
  • Contribute to APIs, applications, services, integrations, and other software components across the technology stack.
  • Write clear, maintainable, and well-tested code aligned with their engineering standards and practices.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute constructively to improving code quality and engineering practices.
  • Investigate and resolve software defects and technical issues, including production issues where required.
  • Contribute to technical documentation, architecture documentation, and knowledge sharing.
  • Consider existing systems, technical debt, and longer-term maintainability when developing solutions.



ABOUT YOU:

  • Strong experience with C# and .NET, APIs and integrations; relational databases and data modelling; distributed systems, messaging, caching, and search.
  • A good understanding of software engineering principles and practices, including writing maintainable and testable software.
  • Experience with version control, collaborative development workflows, and automated testing practices.
  • An understanding of APIs, data, and how modern applications and services interact.
  • Exposure to cloud-based software environments, CI/CD, and modern software delivery practices.
  • Awareness of software security, reliability, observability, and operational considerations.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with curiosity, adaptability, and a commitment to continuous learning
  • Experience using, or a demonstrated willingness to develop capability with, AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude, ChatGPT, or similar
  • An understanding of the strengths, limitations, security and privacy considerations, and risks of AI-generated code and engineering outputs.
  • Ability to apply sound engineering judgement
