He angitūtanga / The Opportunity


We’re looking for passionate Chefs to join at University Hall in University of Canterbry. In this role, you’ll prepare, cook, and serve high‑quality meals while ensuring all food production meets Compass Group standards, contractual requirements, and strict Health & Safety and Food Safety practices.  This is a permanent position with 20 hours guaranteed per week during education terms.


Ko ō kawenga / Your Responsibilities


  • Prepare, cook, portion, and present meals to high quality and consistency standards.
  • Receive, store, rotate, and maintain kitchen supplies while supporting cost‑effective catering control.
  • Maintain all hygiene, cleaning, and food safety compliance requirements.
  • Support customer satisfaction by maintaining professional presentation and contributing to menu development.
  • Communicate effectively, coach others, and follow all company processes and safety procedures.


He kōrero mōu / About You


  • NZQA Level 4 Cookery qualification (or equivalent) with experience in a similar cooking environment.
  • A positive team player who performs well under pressure and maintains professionalism.
  • Physically fit, reliable, hardworking, and committed to high hygiene standards.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work independently or in a team.
  • Flexible, motivated, and eager to continue developing your skills.
