We are pleased to announce a Permanent opportunity on behalf of our Napier based client, who is seeking an experienced Heavy Diesel/ Truck Mechanic to join their busy team in a full-time capacity.

Our client is looking for a qualified Heavy Diesel/ Truck Mechanic. We are seeking an experienced heavy diesel mechanic with 5+ years’ experience and a strong background working on heavy trucks. Experience with Freightliner, Mercedes-Benz, Western Star and/or IVECO would be highly regarded, as would previous dealership experience, particularly with Daimler or Penske.

Benefits for this role include:

• Permanent, full-time position
• Monday to Friday, 8am–5pm , with Saturdays as required
• $40–$49 per hour , depending on experience
• Overtime available at 1.5x
• Tool and meal allowances
• On-call allowance of $130 , with a two-hour minimum for callouts
• ASAP start

The role

You’ll carry out a broad range of mechanical work across trucks and trailers, including:

• Servicing and preventative maintenance
• Fault finding and diagnostics
• Brake, clutch and driveline repairs
• Engine repairs and overhauls
• Electrical and diagnostic work
• Trailer repairs
• Breakdown repairs and roadside callouts
• Accurate pre-COF inspections and associated repairs
• General workshop duties

What we’re looking for

• A current NZ driver licence – Class 2 minimum , with Class 5 preferred
• F endorsement
• Trailer repair experience
• Strong mechanical, diagnostic and fault-finding skills
• Your own tools
• A hardworking, flexible approach and the ability to work well within a team
• Good English communication skills
• The physical capability to safely complete the requirements of the role

A dangerous goods endorsement may also be beneficial.
